Daimler has new electric trucks and a buyer for them: The United Parcel Service

“The game has started” a Daimler official told Reuters.

On Thursday, Daimler announced that it would bring its line of short-haul electric trucks to the US. The United Parcel Service (UPS) will buy the first three trucks, and Daimler is also offering eight trucks to New York City-based non-profits, including the Wildlife Conservation Society, the New York Botanical Garden, Habitat for Humanity New York City, and Big Reuse Brooklyn.

Fuso unveils new gas-powered cabover, all-electric eCanter truck

INDIANAPOLIS. Mitsubishi Fuso announced it is developing a new gasoline powertrain for its FE Series medium-duty cabover trucks and launched its new electric truck, the eCanter, here at the 2017 NTEA Work Truck Show.

According to the company Fuso’s FE130, FE160 and FE180 will be powered by a PSI-GMPT Vortec Series 6-liter V8 engine, coupled with an Allison 6-speed automatic transmission. The new V8 engine models will be the first Fuso vehicles to be assembled in the U.S., noted Jecka Glasman, Fuso’s president and CEO.

Mitsubishi Fuso Brings Electric ‘Urban’ Work Truck to U.S. Market

Mitsubishi Fuso plans to bring a new line of electric work trucks to the North American market.

The division of German automotive giant Daimler AG, which owns Mercedes-Benz, introduced Fuso’s eCanter electric truck at the 2017 Work Truck Show in Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Fuso said it will be the first fully-electric work truck designed and produced by a major truck manufacturer. The first models will be delivered to U.S. customers later this year.
